Chris Brown Could Cop A Plea Deal

Sources says Chris Brown would cop a plea, but only to a misdemeanor and with no jail time. After the story broke yesterday AM it has triggered a passionate public reaction.

We're told Brown's people have consulted with outside legal eagles -- including law school professors -- who have said Rihanna's own aggressiveness takes it out of the felony category. Sources say Rihanna was the first one to strike -- slapping and striking Brown "numerous times" while he was driving, after seeing the text message from another woman. And Rihanna was fighting Brown as he punched and hurt her. We're told much of this is reflected in the official police report based on what Rihanna told cops. As a result, they say, this is not a case that demands a felony plea.

On the other side, there are plenty of cases in which the woman engages the man in a fight but the jury convicts the male because it was an unfair fight and the man could have walked away. The photographs of Rihanna -- the most graphic of which have not been seen by the public -- demonstrate Brown's superior strength. Add to that the fact that Brown had no significant injuries and it presents problems for him.

Perhaps worse for Brown, sources says Rihanna told cops he had beaten her before and the violence had been escalating.

And there's this. According to the detective's note filed with the search warrant papers, Brown sent a text message to Rihanna's assistant in which he apologized for what he had done to Rihanna and said he was getting help. That would be admissible in court and extremely damaging -- as a legal admission.

A solemn and nervous-looking Chris Brown stood before a Los Angeles Superior Court commissioner Thursday after being charged with felonies in the alleged beating of girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown, 19, did not enter a plea, and his arraignment was delayed until April 6. But the commissioner issued a protective order against the singer, saying, "Mr. Brown, you are not to annoy, harass, molest, threaten or use force or violence against anyone."

Brown, wearing a gray suit with a white handkerchief, stood next to his attorney Mark Geragos and answered only, "Yes" and "Yes, ma'am," to Commissioner Kristi Lousteau's procedural questions.

Rihanna, 21, did not attend the five-minute session, but her lawyer, Donald Etra, was in court. He did not request a more restrictive order that Brown stay away from her. The couple have reconciled since her alleged beating.

Asked on the way out of the courtroom how Rihanna was holding up, Etra said, "She's doing great. She is making sure her rights are being protected at every stage of the proceedings." As for why Rihanna didn't want a stay-away order, he said, "She did not feel a stay-away order was necessary."

The L.A. District Attorney's Office announced earlier Thursday that Brown was being charged with two felonies – assault and makng criminal threats – in the alleged beating Rihanna last month.

If convicted, Brown faces anywhere from probation to a maximum four years and eight months in state prison, DA spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said.

The formal charges come almost a month after the couple argued early in the morning of Feb. 8, just hours before Rihanna and Brown were both scheduled to perform at the Grammys. Which I go in to greater details below check it out!!

Singer Chris Brown faces two felony counts, making criminal threats and assault, and up to five years in prison for the alleged beating of his girlfriend Rihanna.

The just-released affidavit and search warrant contain explosive allegations of the attack-blow by-blow.

Rihanna told police Brown repeatedly hit her in the face, choked her to a point near unconsciousness, and threatened to kill her.

Their heated argument began in a rented Lamborghini after a jealous Rihanna read a three-page text message that had been sent to Brown from a former lover.

Brown tried to push Rihanna out of the moving car, but couldn't because her seat belt was on, says the affidavit.

He then allegedly shoved her head against the passenger window and punched her repeatedly, causing her "mouth to fill with blood and blood to splatter all over her clothing and the interior of the vehicle."

The now-infamous police photo shows the extent of the damage to Rihanna's swollen and bloody face.

Brown allegedly yelled: "I'm going to beat the **** out of you when we get home! You wait and see!"

When Rihanna pretended to call to her assistant to get the cops, the affidavit says Brown looked at her and said: "You just did the stupidest thing ever! Now, I'm really going to kill you!"

He then allegedly "placed her in a headlock," "bit her on her left ear," and as "she began to lose consciousness...Brown bit her left ring and middle fingers," according to the statement.

Despite these shocking new details, Rihanna reconciled with Brown last weekend.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that the bruising on her face look like an “MMA fighter.” The swelling is apparently so great that it look like “devils horns” are growing from the bruises above her eyes.

Hi I know everyone has heard of Chris and Rihanna's big mess. Chris Brown hit Rihanna and now she is back with him. The pictures I saw were horrible! Jay-Z is now saying Rihanna has to have body guards around her 24/7 (Jay-Z is Rihanna mentor and the person who discovered her)and they must report back to him everyday or when and if something happens. If all this needs to be done maybe she should'nt be with him. I look up to Rihanna so when I heard she was back with him it made me mad. I know she is a grown women but she has young girls looking up to her(which is what all celebrities take on when they are famous) and she is saying to them its ok to be hit by a guy. I wish her luck but I always thought of Rihanna as a strong women. She has proven me wrong and thats not to say she won't ever be strong but just not today. She is young and still has some growing to do and lessons to learn!
